TEAM PRODUCED NEWSCAST AÂ BLOCK
March 23, 2023
For this team-produced A-block, my class and I learned the importance of teamwork and how important accuracy in rundowns and script commands was. There were some bumps in the road, but we came out better because of it. For this A-block, I did the xylazine story. Because of my background with ENPS, Edius, and Premiere Pro, I helped my classmates write scripts, put in CGs, and director cues, and I also helped put in the VOs.  I was the meteorologist for this newscast, so I handled the first weather scripts and graphics. I also helped my classmates with whatever they needed in preparation for the newscast. We did not have IFBs to communicate with the production team which was also limited. Therefore, we worked with what we had and learned valuable lessons.

MY INDIVIDUAL ROLE
Meteorologist
For this team-produced newscast, I served as a meteorologist. I have had meteorology training through my internship at WVUA 23, and I used what I have learned to make a forecast. To gather information, I used the National Weather Service as well as GFS models. I put the graphics together using templates already programmed at the station. To prepare for the air, I looked at the weather patterns and models to get a full understanding of what the weather would look like, and I put it in conversational terms on camera.
VOSOT EXAMPLES
BRITTANY DAVIS VOSOT
This is a VO/SOT I wrote about former Alabama women's basketball player Brittany Davis getting drafted to the Las Vegas Aces. I made this a VO/SOT because I wanted her to have a voice to share her thoughts on her accomplishment. I also chose to write this because people in Tuscaloosa like it when athletes from Alabama go to the professional leagues.
AUDREY HALE VOSOT
This is a VO/SOT I wrote on the Nashville shooter suspect in March of 2023. I wrote the script using the subject, verb, object format. I chose to make this story a VO/SOT because I felt with such a serious situation, viewers would want to hear what the police had to say about the situation.
